Get to Know Us: Our History and Values

When I first started Growthopedia, the intention was to spread importance of mental health awareness and kindness. I connected with thousands of individuals, listened to their stories and understood the perspectives on life by many. In 2020, I lost that drive to give people advice that I was not taking myself and became overwhelmed, so I took Growthopedia in a different direction.

I was sitting in my living room staring at my massive plant wall with 70+ plants and my outdoor garden on my apartment patio with vegetables, herbs, and fruits. I reflected back to a time where I used to garden with my late father who taught me everything about growing my own food. I transitioned Growthopedia into a space where I can share the importance of sustainability with growing your own food and sharing your love with the world with taking care of plants.

2019

Growthopedia was founded! After spending a lot of time as a first responder and losing my father to cancer, I began suffering from anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. These mental illnesses made everyday life debilitating. I found numerous coping mechanisms that changed my life and I wanted to share these skills with others. Growthopedia gave me a strong platform for sharing the importance of mental health awareness and helping other find kindness in their hearts.

2020

The COVID-19 pandemic came with many challenges. I began to find that giving mental health advice to those when I wasn’t implementing these skills into my own life was wrong. Being stuck at home for months led to a lot of self evaluation of life and where I wanted to take it. I found that giving advice to others about mental health & learning how to market that was not the way to go. In turn, I lost motivation and put the pencil down on Growthopedia for a while.

2021

I was sitting in my living room staring at my 100+ plants and came to the realization that I've had it all wrong this whole time. I grew up planting all sorts of herbs, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and houseplants with my dad. I knew that I needed to take my love for plants and take it to the drawing board. I wanted to come up with a way to share my passion with others, and that is when The Sprout Box was born/
