I Am A Warrior!
The Warrior Pose I (Virabhadrasana) is one of my go-to poses and I catch myself doing it all the time unconsciously. First off, it's a beginner pose almost anyone can do, just spread your legs, rotate those hips and raise your arms! It’s also a great intermediary pose while going in and out of other stretches. Plus, it itself gives an amazing bang for your buck in terms of effort in to effort out. What I mean is you don't have to bend over backwards in order to get some results from this, literally and figuratively.
I've had a tight hip ever since popping my hip flexor while trying to beat out a ground ball in a baseball game when I was in middle school. This pose is perfect for me to stretch it by pointing that front knee outward opening up my lower half (don't forget to squeeze those glutes)! Swaying my hands keeps the flow going from one breath to another while loosening up my shoulders and arms. Next time you do this pose I challenge you to make big arm circles while rotating from one lead foot to another in rhythm while maintaining balance and posture. You may feel goofy doing it at first but it's fun and effective!
